90th death anniversary of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev
BHAGAT Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev are regarded as supreme martyrs of the Indian freedom struggle. On the 90th anniversary of the trio’s martyrdom, Bhagat Singh continues to be in the spotlight, even as Rajguru and Sukhdev find less mention.
Sukhdev was born on May 15, 1907, as per family records and on February 18, 1907, as per his school certificate mentioned date, in Naughara family house in a now crowded area of Ludhiana, although the family was living in Lyallpur where Bhagat Singh’s family also lived. Since Sukhdev’s father died early, he was brought up by his uncle Achint Ram Thapar, a nationalist in his own right of Lyallpur. Two biographies of Sukhdev are authentic, written by his brothers Jaidev Thapar and Mathura Das Thapar. Jaidev’s work is not available, while Mathura Das’ Mere Bhai Sukhdev has got many reprints and continues to be in circulation.

Tikait says farmers to observe bandh on March 26 across India to protest new laws
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Tuesday said the farmers afflicted by the new laws would march to Delhi once again and sell their crops outside the Parliament.
“On Republic Day, 3.50 lakh tractors had entered Delhi and we will do this again,” he said. Addressing a Kisan Mahapanchayat at Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium here, Mr. Tikait said since the government had told the farmers that they could sell their crops anywhere under the new farm laws, “we will prove it to them by selling our produce outside the State Assemblies, Collectors’ offices and the Parliament.”

Over the years, India's first Prime Minister has been both revered and reviled in equal measures. Even decades after his death, Jawaharlal Nehru's name crops up on a regular basis in debates and allegations. Mere days earlier for example, a BJP MLA had reportedly claimed that the former PM had gotten freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad killed as part of a conspiracy.
Now, a somewhat more innocuous claim is doing the rounds. Quoting the Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha website, Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang suggested that Nehru's favourite cigarettes were once flown to Bhopal during his visit. The lawmaker shared a screenshot of anecdotes from former Governor H. Vinayak. Pataskar that have been shared on the website.

Lucknow, Feb 27 : Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale on Saturday demanded 15 per cent reservation for the Kshatriya community in Uttar Pradesh. Speaking to the media in Lucknow Athawale said, "People of any community who live below the poverty line should be given reservation."
Commenting on the farmers' protest, Athawale said the current National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is not against the farmers, adding that we fully support them.
He said the demand for repealing the Union farm laws is unfair. If a law is withdrawn today, then there would be more similar demands made in the future. Taking a dig at the farmer leaders, he said the farmer leaders are causing inconvenience to the farmers.

Remembering Chandrashekhar Azad(1906–1931)
The revolutionary freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad is usually remembered only by the famous photograph in which he is twirling his moustache bare-chested, and wearing a janeu ritual thread, a symbol of masculine nationalism.
Deeper research into his life and political career reveals not only the truth behind this photograph but the progressive political ideas of Azad, who led the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association, a revolutionary socialist organisation founded by Bhagat Singh and others in September 1928.
Unlike Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Tiwari was born in a very poor family of workers (people who sell their labour power for wages). His father Sitaram Tiwari was a gardener, and his mother Jagrani Devi a homemaker. They had migrated from the district of Unnao in central UP to Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh where the boy who would become Azad was born on July 23, 1906.
