Puducherry voted to elect MLAs to its 30-member assembly in a single phase on April 6 in the shadow of a raging coronavirus pandemic.
Of the 30 Assembly seats for Puducherry Elections 2021, five are reserved for the Scheduled Caste candidates. As many as 10,02,589 were eligible to vote in the elections.
The Congress-led government in the Union Territory fell before completing its five-year term under the Chief Minister V Narayansamy who resigned on February 22 ahead of a floor test in the 33-member House (including three nominated members) following the resignations of five Congress MLAs and one Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) legislator. On February 23, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of V Narayansamy and his council of ministers. Then lieutenant governor Kiran Bedi was replaced and Telangana's governor Tamilisai Soundararajan took the additional charge of the Union Territory.

Puducherry [India], May 2 (ANI): When the Puducherry assembly election results are declared on Sunday evening, former Chief Minister of the Union Territory and All India NR Congress (AINRC) party chief, N Rangaswamy expects to win and become the Chief Minister. The NR Congress, BJP and AIADMK had contested the elections together under his leadership.
NR Congress chief N Rangaswamy, who contested from Thattanchavady and Yanam constituencies, voted at Government Boys Middle School in Thilaspet on April 6.
On March 9, PuducherryBJP in charge, Nirmal Kumar Surana had announced that the party has finalised its seat-sharing deal with the NR Congress and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) for the legislative assembly elections in the Union Territory.

Puducherry [India], May 2 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's A Namassivayam has won from Mannadipet assembly constituency in Puducherry. 
Upon winning the constituency, Namassivayam told ANI, "I am thankful to the voters for electing me as their representative. NDA will take up welfare activities for people of Puducherry and continue to work for them."The All India NR Congress, BJP and AIADMK had contested the elections together under N Rangaswamy's leadership.
Elections in Puducherry on April 6, which is currently under President's Rule, was fought mainly between the Congress-Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) alliance and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comprising All India NR Congress, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

As Puducherry goes to polls on Tuesday, as many as 1,558 polling stations, including 952 main and 606 auxiliary polling stations, have been set up in the UT in 635 locations.
Polling started from 7 am and shall go on till 7 pm, with the last one hour dedicated for COVID-19 positive patients to cast their votes.
To ensure a safe election, the EC has restricted the number of electors per polling station to 1,000. A total of 30 constituencies across the UT are going to polls, in which 324 candidates are in the fray.

Polling is being held for a total of 475 of the total 824 assembly constituencies across the states of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union territory of Puducherry.

Polling began at 7 am on Tuesday for one of the busiest days in the ongoing Assembly election in all four states and one Union Territory - West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
Polling is being held for a total of 475 of the total 824 assembly constituencies across the states of Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union territory of Puducherry.
While for West Bengal, the day marks the third in an eight-phase election, in Assam it is the third and final phase of voting. The remaining states/UT –Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are witnessing a single-phase polling. Counting for all the polls will be held on May 2.

Puducherry [India], April 6 (ANI): As polling began in Puducherry on Tuesday morning, BJP Puducherry President, V Saminathan and NR Congress chief N Rangaswamy cast their votes and urged voters in the Union Territory to do the same.
Saminathan voted from the Lawspet constituency and urged all the voters in the Union Territory to cast their vote to form the double-engine government of NDA.
"Casted My Vote for Change in Puducherry. I request all to Vote. Vote for Change Vote for Double Engine growth Vote for BEST Puducherry," he tweeted after casting his vote.

Puducherry [India], April 6 (ANI): Puducherry recorded a voter turnout of over 78 per cent polling, according to the latest figures from the Election Commission.
According to EC data, the voter turnout was 78.13 per cent at 7.11 pm. The polling ended at 7 pm today.
Polling for 30 assembly seats in Puducherry was held today. Of the 30 Assembly seats, five are reserved for the Scheduled Caste candidates.
Among the senior political leaders who voted today are -- former Puducherry CM and Congress leader V Narayanasamy, BJP Puducherry President, V Saminathan and NR Congress chief N Rangaswamy.

Puducherry [India], April 5 (ANI): The countdown for the assembly elections in Puducherry that will seal the fate of 324 candidates across 30 constituencies on Tuesday has begun.
With campaigning coming to an end, both NDA and Congress have expressed confidence they will form the government in Puducherry.
During campaigning, while Rahul Gandhi held the reins of Congress in the Union Territory, BJP's camp witnessed high-profile rallies from an array of leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda. Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan too campaigned for his party in the UT.
