Italy 1-1 England, aet (3-2 on pens): Donnarumma the hero as Azzurri win EURO 2020!

Match in brief
"It is important we make a good start," Roberto Mancini had said on the eve of Italy's fourth EURO final. What ensued was anything but. With less than two minutes on the clock, Harry Kane spread a pass out wide to surprise starter Kieran Trippier, and his delightful cross was met by a crisp left-footed half-volley from the stealthy Shaw. England rejoiced.
If the atmosphere was electric before, it was enough to power half of north London once the goal went in. The Azzurri were shocked but showed their mettle as they regrouped, gained a foothold and started stringing passes together. Only the final pass, the final shot let them down – not always by much, with the excellent Federico Chiesa whistling a shot just wide before the break.

Italy 1-1 Spain (pens: 4-2): Azzurri hold nerve to reach EURO final

Match in brief
Italy started brightly but Spain began to take control in midfield. The first clear chance came on 25 minutes when Dani Olmo, spearheading the Spain attack after being picked ahead of Morata, pounced on a loose ball but was denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma. Later in the first half Italy threatened down the left, Emerson clipping the woodwork with a shot across goal.

The opening period had only simmered but the second half boiled over with chances, Ciro Immobile and Sergio Busquets going close before Chiesa forced a save from Unai Simón. On the hour mark, that man Chiesa broke the deadlock, picking up a loose ball on the edge of the box, cutting inside and curling a shot inside the far post.

Juventus-Porto | Juventus 3-2 Porto (agg: 4-4): Sérgio Oliveira sinks Pirlo's men | UEFA Champions League

Juve are out after an incredible tie which saw the momentum switch from one side to the other so many times. It is fair reward for Porto, who resisted with ten men when everything seemed lost. A huge disappointment for Andrea Pirlo's side, though. A great display by Chiesa, including two spectacular goals, was not enough for the Bianconeri. Likewise their desperate onslaught for a miraculous comeback after Rabiot's late goal.
Carlos Machado, Porto reporter
This was a legendary performance from so many players. Marchesín, Pepe and Sérgio Oliveira stood out but, overall, it was a tremendous team effort from Porto, who reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the fifth time. They fully deserved it too, because they knew how to suffer, playing from the 54th minute with ten men. Still they managed to resist, regroup and win the tie. What an epic night!
