China on Monday released the 2023 edition of its "standard map" incorporating the disputed areas including its claims over India's Arunachal and Aksai Chin region in Eastern Ladakh. The map also included Taiwan and the disputed South China Sea.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has criticized China's release of a "standard map" claiming Arunachal Pradesh and Aksai Chin as its territory, calling it a "very serious" issue. Gandhi accused China of already taking Indian land in Ladakh and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the issue.
His remarks came a day after China released what it called the "2023 edition of the standard map of China", showing Aksai Chin and the whole of Arunachal Pradesh within its territory.
China has responded to India's objection of its new "standard" map - which claims ownership of Arunachal Pradesh and the Aksai Chin region in eastern Ladakh - insisting it is "the country's normal exercise of sovereignty in accordance with the law".
