There’s

Cartier watch scandal was 'not at all' gendered: Minister Jane Hume

Minister for Women’s Economic Security Jane Hume has told Sky News the Christine Holgate Cartier watch scandal was “not at all” gendered, but her treatment by sections of the media was.

Ms Hume said she understood why the former Australia Post chief executive “feels that what occurred to her is being gendered”.

“Certainly had it been a man in Christine Holgate’s position I don’t think the media would have been taking photographs of their cufflinks, I don’t think there would have been a cartoon in the newspaper the next day depicting a male CEO as a prostitute,” she told Sky News.

“Yes, that’s gendered, was the issue itself gendered? No not at all.”
