HP Chromebook x2 11 has been unveiled as the company’s latest offering in its Chrome OS ecosystem. The Chromebook comes with a detachable keyboard and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c processor. Alongside the new Chromebook, HP has brought the Chromebase 21.5 inch All-in-One Desktop as well as a Chromebook-certified M24fd USB-C Monitor.

Zoom gaat verbeterde app voor Chromebooks uitbrengen

Zoom brengt een verbeterde versie van zijn app uit voor Chrome OS. Deze komt beschikbaar voor Chrome OS-versies vanaf v91, meldt de videobeldienst. De app is vanaf dinsdag te downloaden in de Google Play Store.
De nieuwe app maakt gebruik van progressieve webapplicatiesoftware (PWA), wat betekent dat de app gebruikmaakt van de technologie van een webbrowser. Hierdoor werkt de gebruiker altijd met de nieuwste versie van de app en neemt de software minder geheugen in beslag.
De huidige Zoom-app voor Chrome OS heeft niet alle functies die Windows- en Mac-versies wel hebben. Zo kan de gebruiker geen audio delen met andere gebruikers tijdens het schermdelen. De whiteboard-functie ontbreekt ook.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 compute platform was launched on Monday as the company's next-generation system-on-chip (SoC) for always-on, always-connected, entry-level Windows PCs and Chromebooks. The new Snapdragon platform is positioned as the successor to Snapdragon 7c that Qualcomm unveiled in 2019, and there are many similarities between the two. Qualcomm claims that the new Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 chipset is capable of delivering up to 10 percent higher system performance than competitive platforms and up to two times the battery life of typical entry-level laptops with over 19 hours of continuous use on a single charge. The new offering is also designed to enhance camera and audio experiences on new laptops and Chromebooks to support remote working and learning environments.

Lenovo Largest Notebook PC Vendor in Q1 2021, Chrome OS Sees Highest YoY Adoption: Strategy Analytics

According to Strategy Analytics, Lenovo was the largest global notebook PC shipments vendor with 16.3 million units shipped in Q1 2021 and a market share of 23.9 percent. The report says top vendors in the PC segments were Lenovo, HP, Dell, Apple, and Acer.

During our testing we ran into some Wi-Fi 6 issues where the download speed results were considerable lower than expected. We reached out to ASUS to see if this is a specific issue with the Chromebox and our Netgear mesh network. We haven’t heard back as of yet but if we get any updates on the issue we will update this page.
