Arson Welles’ “Citizen Kane”, widely considered one of the greatest movies ever made, has lost its 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes after the review aggregator website added a negative review from 80 years ago.

While Netflix's Mank, a black-and-white drama about the man who wrote Citizen Kane, Herman J. Mankiewicz, was up for 10 Oscars last weekend, a fan noticed a surprising change in Citizen Kane's glowing reviews.
Citizen Kane was one of just a handful of films to achieve a perfect 100% score on movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, along with other classics such as 12 Angry Men, Battleship Potempkin and more recent hits like The Terminator, Toy Story, Toy Story 3 and Paddington 2.
Rotten Tomatoes decided to upload an 80-year-old negative review from the Chicago Times, dropping its pristine 100% score to 99%.

Citizen Kane has been the top-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes for a long time with a huge number of positive verdicts from critics pulled from the past eight decades. However, after a negative review resurfaced, the classic title has dropped from 100% to 99%. 
As you can see below, an eighty-year-old review from the Chicago Tribune’s Mae Tinée with the headline "'Citizen Kane' Fails to Impress Critic as Greatest Ever Filmed' was responsible for this change in score, and it's had some unexpected consequences.

'Paddington 2' is now rated the greatest ever film on Rotten Tomatoes after 'Citizen Kane' lost its 100 per cent rating on the review-aggregator website.
Orson Welles' 1941 drama - which examines the life and legacy of publishing magnate Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles himself, a character inspired by American media barons William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer and Chicago tycoons Samuel Insull and Harold McCormick - held the honour for many years but its rating slipped after a negative review from 80 years ago was added to the site.
'Citizen Kane' - widely considered by critics to be one of the greatest movies of all-time - now has a 99 per cent rating and has now been surpassed by 2017 children's film 'Paddington 2', which is based on Michael Bond's literary character Paddington Bear, as the best rated movie.

The bear can give himself a pat on the back after eclipsing Citizen Kane to be one of Rotten Tomatoes’ top-rated films of all time. 
Paddington 2 has locked a higher rating than the 1941 classic after the iconic film fell off its 100 per cent rating after unearthing a bad review from 1941. 
While the Orson Welles masterpiece is still a firm favourite, 2017’s Paddington 2 has taken its place on the Rotten Tomatoes podium.
Following the discovery of an 80-year-old bad review of the classic CK written by the Chicago Tribune according to Screen Rant, Paddington 2 now sits at the top movie spot.
