Lifeboat launched as person rescued from sea off Fylde coast A person had to be rescued from the sea after getting into difficulty in the freezing cold and pitch black. Volunteers from the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI), were called to a stretch of the Fylde coast close to the Cliffs Hotel in Blackpool at around 9.30pm on Saturday. Two lifeboats were launched but were thankfully not needed as the person was helped to safety by officers from Blackpool Police.
