Strange But True: Cameron Hill was Clinton's cereal kingdom

Strange But True: Cameron Hill was Clinton's cereal kingdom
Terrance Ingano
The Weaving Mill was a key part of the Lancaster Mills complex in the early days of Clinton.  The only building on the opposite side of the Nashua River, it was managed by  Donald Cameron, who lived in the only house on the street (now the site of the sign and rock on Cameron Street).
Cameron was one of the first Scotsmen in Clinton and was a foreman of that mill building. When President Ulysses S. Grant visited our town, Cameron allowed all of his employees to go see him, but he stayed alone on the job. He suffered a terrible accident while working that day and later died of his injuries. The street and the mill were named in his memory.

Strange But True: Clinton's ace pilot, William Moran, delighted with aerial feats

William K. Moran was the son of Michael and Margaret (King) Moran of 53 Richman St. He was born and raised in Clinton, graduated from Clinton High School, and enlisted in the Aviation Corps in the fall of 1917.
After training at Cornell University and flying fields in the mid-West, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant and was assigned to instruction service in Pensacola, Fla.
Despite his insistence on going overseas to enter the Great War, Moran was retained as a flight instructor. Part of the work he did in the early 1920s was to chart and map the southern and southwestern parts of the United Sates, developing future routes for air mail and, ultimately, passenger planes.
