Belagavi: Congress workers protested in front of the Congress Bhavan here, alleging that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been portrayed in a derogato.
The remarks come days after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, a Congress ally, dismissed the Opposition's demand for a JPC over a report by short-selling firm Hindenburg on Adani.
The party's chief spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said that the protests are not merely about the alleged targeting of Rahul Gandhi but about the Congress’s resolve "to protect the constitution and democracy".
"Why are you scared of a JPC on Adani? You have a two-thirds majority in the Parliament, then why are you scared? This means that something is awry," Kharge said.
Wearing black clothes, several opposition MPs on Monday took out a march from parliament to Vijay Chowk to protest against the government over the Adani issue and Rahul Gandhi's disqualification from the Lok Sabha.
