Tripoli, 21 February 2021 - Yesterday evening, Special Envoy Ján Kubiš had a substantive telephone call with the President of the Presidency Council designate, Mr. Mohammed al-Manfi, and discussed the way forward on the holding of a House of Representatives vote of confidence session. He reiterated the support of the Security Council to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum outcomes.
On 9 February, the President of the Security Council issued a statement, expressing “The Security Council welcome to the agreement reached by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) on a new unified interim executive authority charged with leading the country to elections.” ....

Geneva, Switzerland – Members of a newly elected Libyan interim government pledged in Geneva this week to take the country to national elections on December 24 of this year, an ambitious timeline studded with almost impossible challenges.
The interim authorities nominated by the 75-member Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) under the umbrella of the United Nations are to replace the Government of National Accord (GNA), considered no longer able to usher the country into a phase of national reconciliation and state-building. ....
