I agree that no one should move by an airport if they don’t like the noise. Also, no one should move to a rural area if they don’t like mooing cows, barking dogs or crowing roosters.
I love my home behind which are some woods with wild blackberries, cabbage palms (Florida’s state tree) and wild grape vines. I love the hawks, two of which built a nest and raised two babies in a tree in the woods a few years ago. I love the rabbits, squirrels and birds, which come to the bird feeders and bird baths usually twice daily depending on the weather.

When we think of the Senate filibuster, we think of Mr. Smith going to Washington, saving struggling homeowners from the evil bankers, stealing homes from hardworking homeowners, widows and orphans. Mr. Smith struggled, on the verge of collapse, turning public opinion to save homeowners from predatory lending institutions. Initially the senate cared more about the bankers' political contributions than their struggling constituents.
Today a filibuster is a political strategy in which a senator “speaks,” or threatens to speak for hours, to delay efforts to vote for a bill. The tactic takes advantage of Senate rules that say a senator, once recognized, may speak on an issue without being impeded by anyone. Problem is, the rule has changed; today all a senator must do is threaten to speak, and then go home for an extended weekend, on our dime, to stop legislation they don’t like.

Vaccine appointment organized and easy
Lakeland Regional is doing it right! My husband and I were two of the lucky ones whose names were given to Lakeland Regional Health to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to us. They called and left a callback number, which I was able to reach very easily and set up an appointment. We have had our first shot at a very organized location and have an appointment for the second. Thank you, Lakeland Regional, for making it so easy for us.
