India likely to make less availability of vaccines globally: Gavi
India, which is experiencing a sudden rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, is now likely to make available a smaller number of vaccines to the rest of the world, the head of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation has said.
“India is, by volume, the largest supplier of vaccines for the developing world. Because of the new wave of outbreaks in India right now, the Indian government has stepped up their vaccination programmes, and that has meant that they've required more doses, which means that they've made less doses available for the rest of the world,” Seth Berkley, CEO of Gavi told CBS News in an interview.

Shortage of Covid vaccine doses in Haveri? | Hubballi News

HAVERI: With only 6,900 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in stock as on Monday evening, the vaccination drive in Haveri district could be hampered unless the district receives fresh vials quickly, healthcare workers said.
The district administration has sent in a requisition for 2.5 lakh doses. As on Monday, the district received a total 85,680 doses of which 78,750 doses have already been administered.
Some beneficiaries returned home without receiving the vaccine on Monday itself due to a shortage at the Haveri district hospital. “I returned home as the hospital said they did not have vaccine doses and staff advised us to come back on Tuesday,” said Mounesh Arkasali, a resident of Ijarilakamapur.

Vax centres run out of Covaxin in Hyderabad; 2 jabs safe: Doctors | Hyderabad News

Representative image
HYDERABAD: Desi Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin seems to be running out of stock in its own backyard – Hyderabad. Most vaccination centres in the city, be they government or private, don’t have stock. The reason: A sudden spike in demand for the indigenously developed vaccine.
Such has been the surge in demand for the vaccine that many of those waiting in queues for a Covaxin shot, have had to return home without getting the jab, especially after the vaccination drive was opened up to everyone over 45 years of age.
Right from making frantic calls to hospitals and friends in right places to reaching out to contacts through social media, people are leaving no stone unturned to get their hands on Covaxin.
