last two covid-19 surges. they were very effective, when the numbers were going up, there was a face mask mandate. there was a closure of bars, there was a capping of the restaurant, those worked. within two weeks of those mandates the numbers began to go down. we are at a point right now, this is almost like a runaway train. if we don't use everything that is at our disposal, we are heading into some really, really dark times the likes of which we have not seen previously. and i don't get the sense that the public understands that. >> the governor of your state, governor abbott, has shown an unwillingness to support mask mandates. in fact, he's fighting the idea

UA Cinemas, one of Hong Kong’s leading movie theater operators, has collapsed. The company said on Monday morning that it had applied for voluntary liquidation.
“UA Cinemas has always been committed to providing the highest quality of cinematic entertainment to all audiences in Hong Kong since it was founded in 1985 by Mr. Ira Kaye. However, we regret to announce that UA Cinemas will cease business with immediate effect from 8 March 2021 due to unavoidable and devastating pressure faced by our operators since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. We would like to thank our colleagues, customers and business partners for their support with UA Cinemas over the past 36 years. Thank you everyone for taking the journey with us. To comply with the statute and to protect the interest of all shareholders, UA Cinemas has commenced winding up procedures with the Hong Kong court,” it said in a statement in Chinese and English on its website.

The 55th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has moved from early July, and will now take place Aug. 20-28, as the Czech Republic fights a surge in coronavirus infections.
The festival was due to take place July 2-10, but the alarming COVID-19 situation has forced organizers to delay. The Czech Republic currently has the highest per capita infection rate in the world with more than 16,000 daily new infections for a population of 10.7 million. The nation is in a strict three-week lockdown that is enforced by police and military.
