ISKANDAR PUTERI, April 4 — The government has prepared several backup plans in the event that it has to postpone the use of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, said National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He said that the move was mooted in the event that the vaccine was found to be unsuitable for use in the country.
“If we have to defer, or if we find that AstraZeneca is unsuitable, we have some other (backup) plans. For example, we received an offer from Pfizer-BioNTech to add another 12.8 million doses, in addition to what we have ordered, which is about 30 million doses.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — It has been over a week since Malaysia started its National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme on February 24 with the prime minister being the first in the country to take the jab, and about two million people have voluntarily signed up to be vaccinated as of 3pm yesterday.
This represented about 8.6 per cent of Malaysia’s plan to have 23.6 million people vaccinated by February 2022. Also yesterday, a total of 99,616 people in Malaysia have already received their first dose of the vaccine.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) and Mimos Bhd, with the assistance of the Health Ministry, have begun a vaccine tracing project utilising Blockchain technology at the proof-of-concept stage.
Its Deputy Minister Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim said vaccine tracing can be used not only for the Covid-19 vaccine, but also for other vaccines or medication in Malaysia.

JOHOR BAHRU, Feb 21 — Johor received a portion of the Covid-19 vaccine supply that arrived in the country today to be placed at four vaccine storage centres (VSC) in the state.
The supply, which is part of the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines, arrived in Johor Bahru from Singapore via the Johor Causeway.
