Girish Ramachandran, President of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Asia Pacific said, “Society is at the centre of business,”  quoting the late Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, in Connected to India’s @Work interview at TCS’s APAC headquarters in Singapore.
Jamsetji’s words laid the foundation of philanthropy within the highly successful, SGD 150 billion, TATA group.
The well known Jamsetjee Nusserwanjee Tata Endowment grant or JNTE set up to support higher education of Indian nationals in 1892, continues to be active. Its pedigreed alumni include late Dr Raja Ramanna, Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
TCS’s recently launched Digital Acceleration Centre (DAC) has trained fresh college and polytechnic pass-outs to experienced professionals, in technology-related skills, improving their employability in post-Covid Singapore; an effort by TCS to give back to Singapore where the company has thrived for over three decades.
