The Aarogya Setu contact tracing app may soon become a tool to quickly access a person's vaccination status.
The government is working on a feature where a blue tick will appear against their names once people take one dose of the vaccine. If they have taken both the doses, then two blue ticks will be displayed.

Synopsis
The Centre had on April 28 ordered 110 million doses of Covishield, made by Serum Institute of India (SII) and 50 million of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin to cover inoculations until July, the government said in a statement on Monday.
AFP
Even as it had placed fresh orders, the two manufacturers haven’t fully delivered on the second order, the government said.
The government said it placed a third order last month for 160 million vaccine doses to be delivered over the following three months, rebutting media reports that it hadn’t sought more Covid jabs. This comes as the vaccine programme, expanded since May 1, hasn’t been able to keep up with demand as people say they have failed to get appointments on the CoWin website.

While the CoWIN portal offers a list of nearby vaccination centres, the WhatsApp-powered MyGov Corona Helpdesk chatbot has added a new functionality to make it easier for people to search for vaccination centres in their locality. To recall, the chatbot was launched last year.

The Minister said the government will intimate the eligible people after confirmation from Serum Institute of India about the arrival of vaccines.
Vaccination of people above 18 years of age, which was supposed to start from May 1, may be delayed as the vaccines have not yet arrived, Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said on Friday.
"It is not possible for us to start vaccinating people from 18 years to 45 year from tomorrow. Please don't take it otherwise. The moment we get official information, we will let you know," Sudhakar told reporters.
He was reacting to the Government of India's direction to allow vaccinating people above 18 year from May 1.

Pointing out that the platform now has over “1.13 crore people registration, with 55 lakh having registered in the three hours since CoWin opened for people over 18,” Sharma told ET that “ this would not have been possible if there were glitches.”
Government officials conceded that "slots will be available for booking only once vaccines (become) available, that’s the challenge.” Currently, various state governments and private hospitals are still negotiating with vaccine suppliers for their share of injections for people between the ages of 18 and 45 years. The stock of vaccines with the central government-- pegged at around 1.34 crore doses as of April 28-- is reserved for those aged 45 years and above.

Can we please do something right? Something that will make us feel and look less chaotic. No sooner did the third phase of India’s all-adult vaccination programme against Covid-19 roll out, the CoWIN site crashed. Undoubtedly, it’s the world’s largest vaxxing exercise, with the actual jabs starting on May 1. And teething problems could have been expected, given India’s vast numbers. But the water has reached our head.
