As per IMD, Diwali celebrations in multiple states can be interrupted by heavy rainfall and storms due to Cyclons Sitrang hitting the coast.
Sitrang, which is likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm, will bring in its wake very heavy rain and wind reaching speed gusting to 110 kmph
The wind speed is likely to be 90-100 kilometres per hour on Monday.
Digital communications in the country are likely to be greatly impacted as the cyclone Sitrang approaches and is expected to hit the coastal areas by nightfall on Monday.
The cyclonic storm, which is named 'Sitrang' as suggested by Thailand, will cross Bangladesh's coast between Tinkona Island and Sandwip tomorrow morning (Tuesday, 25th October).
