ABUJA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- At least six people, including four soldiers, were killed recently when a group of gunmen attacked some expatriate workers of South Korean firm Daewoo in Nigeria's oil-rich state of Rivers, the army confirmed Wednesday.
Gunmen on Tuesday morning attacked a convoy of Daewoo workers along the East-West Road in Rivers State, killing four soldiers and two drivers. The gunmen also kidnapped two Korean expatriates in the convoy. It was gathered that the incident, which occurred at around 9.30 am, caused pandemonium along the East-West Road. A security source, who confirmed the attack, said the suspected kidnappers ambushed a team of expatriates being escorted by troops of the 5 Battalion along Ahoada-Obua in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The gunmen shot four soldiers, and two drivers dead while they reportedly kidnapped two expatriates of the company on Tuesday.
