Amateur weatherman raises $40,000 for Upper Hutt forecasting station to improve reporting services
Talbot runs the Wellington Severe Weather Reports page on Facebook, which has over 24,000 followers. He says many of the people on the page are Upper Hutt locals who backed his fundraising campaign, wanting their city’s weather to be better represented. The station would be built to a “tier 1” standard – recording wind, rain and temperature. It would be placed where it would get minimal interference that could skew data.
