Callout for car on fire at mudflats near Nelson
MARION VAN DIJK/Nelson Mail A car was reported on fire on the mudflats near Boulder Bank Drive, north of Nelson on Tuesday evening. A car fire north of Nelson spread to nearby vegetation before it was put out on Tuesday evening. A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to Boulder Bank Dr, north of Nelson city, at around 9.35pm following reports of a car on fire in the nearby mudflats. Fenz southern communications shift manager Daryl Ball said car was fully involved on arrival. The fire soon spread to nearby vegetation but was extinguished before it grew to a larger area.
