Good morning. i m marci gonzalez in for diana perez. and i m john muller. we begin with new information about that missing malaysian airlines plane, abc news learned two separate communications systems were manually shut down separately. which would mean a catastrophic accident did not take place. in fact, a senior pentagon official also told abc news, there is now evidence the plane may have flown on for hours, longer than previously thought. abc s david kerley has the latest from washington. reporter: one source tells us that in the cockpit, the data reporting system was shut down. some time after its last transmission, 26 minutes into the flight. then, the transponder reporting altitude and position was also shut down about 40 minutes into the flight. our source called it a systematic shutdown. this as we also learned the plane flew up to four hours beyond its last sighting on radar. ....

To turn right here and turn left here and change altitudes here. these are wave points in an international airway across the sky. when you plot the route that this plane took using the pings, this is what it shows. it shows it went along those wave points. even the malaysians and the united states and even the u.s. navy says, there is not 100% confidence in this information but pardon the pun, in a sea of confusion, you have to follow every lead you possibly can. that s why this has taken on a significance this friday. i want to talk about these pings, supposedly, according to reuters, at 1:07 on saturday, the data reporting system shut down. 14 minutes later, at 1:21, in the morning, the transponder ....

They are moving the assets and the cost, i suspect they have an area they want to search. did someone deliberately turn off the plane s communication systems? we don t know. it s possible to have a cascading fire melt down of the system that you lose the navigation systems and lose communications and tron respoan. we know it s shut down. 1:21 a.m. 14 minutes after the plaen s data reporting system shut down, the communications were shut down manually. that s why i ask you that we. not necessarily. failure modes, things happen and it s possible. you can t rule it out. i wanted to pick you up on this point. an interesting point. on way points, you are much more experienced and you have flown and you know there is as many way points as you there as you ....

Fox news alert that we ve been watching so closely. brand-new clues suggest the jet may have been sabotaged and now the search is turning to land. heather, exactly where are they looking? yeah. it sounds amazing. now looking at some land and possibly some islands that uninhabited. india now announcing this morning that it will begin searching several islands just west of the area for flight 370. some of these islands are completely uninhabited in the indian ocean. so far no details on what they re looking for just yet, whether the plane may have crashed or landed intact. here is a question so many of us want to know. was it hijacked and taken to a secret runway? still no one is certain at this point. we re also learning that two of the plane s tracking systems were turned off at separate times. first the data reporting system at 1:07 a.m. and then the transponder at 1:21 a.m ....
