Monroe City Council has narrowly agreed to move forward with a partial conversion of Cass and Harrison Streets, despite loud and persistent outcry from residents who believe the project is dangerous and unnecessary. Council voted 4-3 Monday to approve the conversion of Cass and Harrison to two-way traffic from Fourth Street to First Street, a departure from the initial plan to convert almost the entirety of both streets from their current, one-way configurations.
