When the pandemic rolled in last year and dramatically altered how people live their lives, many performers found themselves shifting from the stage to a virtual spotlight, but not all of them.
In New Haven, the International Festival on Arts & Ideas came up with a program called Arts on Call, which allows people in the Greater New Haven area to hire a performer to entertain them outside their home. The program was launched in 2020 and paid nearly $10,000 directly to artists who performed for nearly 1,500 New Haven residents.
