he Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Strike Force Team, Zone A unit in Lagos has intercepted smuggled items and falsely declared items that are worth N1.42 billion in the last four weeks.
Speaking on Wednesday while unveiling the seizures, the coordinator of the strike force, Deputy Comptroller Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu, said his unit seized 564 bales of textiles materials falsely declared as machinery and raised Debit Note (DN) on falsely declared cargoes worth N490 million. ....

Customs seize textile materials, smuggled rice worth N1.42bn in Lagos

The Comptroller General of Customs’ (CGC’s) Strike Force Team unit on Wednesday said it has intercepted 564 bales of textiles materials falsely declared as machinery, foreign parboiled rice, footwears and foreign bags worth N895million.
Speaking on Wednesday while unveiling the seizure, the co-ordinator, CGC’s Strike Force, Zone A, Deputy Compt.
Ahmadu Bello Shuaibu said it also raised Debit Note on falsely declared cargoes worth N490million.
According to the coordinator, the unit generated a whopping N1.42billion in the last four weeks from Debit-Note and anti-smuggling activities.
Giving a breakdown of the seizure, the coordinator said other items seized are 1,252 bags of smuggled foreign rice, 564 bales of falsely declared Ankara materials, 637 bales of foot-wears and 30,256 pieces of foreign bags. ....
