The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has said it arrested three suspected Facebook dating scammers who specialised in rape and kidnapping of their victims for ransom. The Command's spokesperson DSP, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in statement posted via his Twitter handle on Wednesday. According to him, the suspects, who were arrested at Ufuoma in Ughelli North Council Area of the state, chatted and lured unsuspecting girls through Facebook to hotel rooms were they were gang-raped and dispossessed of their belongings.
Some junior officers in the Nigeria Police Force have condemned the sacking of their colleagues by the authorities. The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ali has been accused of detaining three persons over the alleged publication of an unverified news report on an online news platform, 'Mikiya Hausa' that he was kidnapped. Four persons initially arrested over the issue were identified as Alhaji Sani Ahmad; his younger brother, Aminu Ahmad; Aminu's wife and Sani's friend, Hamisu Inuwa. They were arrested separately on November 12 and 13, 2022 at Nasarawa. But Aminu’s wife was released on the same day while the three others were detained for over two weeks.
The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested four male suspects for the alleged murder of a 29-year-old man identified as Uguru Dominic and his friend. A statement issued on Sunday by the Command's spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, said that the victims were killed for allegedly failing to pay N20,000 for work reportedly done for him.
