Delhi Police on Sunday detained prominent wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Bajrang Punia after they breached the security cordon while attempting to move towards the new Parliament building.
The wrestlers, who have been seeking the removal of Wrestling Federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, were trying to march towards the new Parliament as they want to hold a women's Maha Panchayat in front of the new Parliament.
India's top wrestlers had planned a protest outside the parliament as it was inaugurated on Sunday.
"They broke the barricades and didn't follow police directions," senior Delhi Police officer Dependra Pathak told local media.
The police is reportedly breaking up the protest site at Jantar Mantar and removing all tents and coolers.
