After days of hectic parleys and suspense, Congress has finally decided to go with Siddaramaiah as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. D.K. Shivakumar, another contender for the top post, claimed that he decided to make the sacrifice and agreed to be his deputy “in the interest of the party.”
A ninth-time MLA, Siddaramaiah is an untainted leader, known for his populist schemes and efforts to consolidate the votes of minorities, backward classes and Dalits.
Siddaramaiah's political career began in 1983 when he was elected from the Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysore on a Lok Dal party ticket.
As per predictions, Shivakumar's planetary positions will fall in place for the post by November 2025. Incidentally, this timeframe also coincides with the 2.5 years rotational CM option offered by the Congress high command
