Recruitment of expatriate workers to cost more in Oman

Muscat: To promote its nationalisation drives across Oman’s various economic sectors, the Ministry of Labour has unveiled a new fee structure employers need to follow while hiring expatriate workers.
Hiring an expatriate in a top position under the new structure will cost companies OMR2,001, while the cost of the licence fee for a non-Omani hired in a mid-level position is OMR1,001.
Taking on board any expatriate working in a technical, skilled or specialised position will cost companies OMR601 per expatriate employee.
Revised expat hiring fees have also been rolled out for sectors such as animal husbandry, fisheries and agriculture. ....

Jobs galore as Omani economy grows

Muscat: Oman plans to hire more than 32,000 nationals this year, and provide training to nearly 20,000 job seekers, as part of the Ministry of Labour’s efforts to employ more citizens.
The government also managed to save the jobs of 70,000 Omanis employed in key sectors during the pandemic, said Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’owain, the Minister of Labour, while announcing the ministry’s plans for this year. These jobs will be achieved through both the replacement of expatriates with Omanis, and the creation of new employment opportunities brought about through economic growth and diversification. ....
