Five Army personnel were killed Friday morning when militants cornered by the troops triggered an explosion in a densely forested area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
One militant killed and another was likely injured in an ongoing gunbattle in the woods of Rajouri.
The militant was killed in the dense Kandi forest, the site of Friday’s IED blast, during a security operation to hunt down militants who had attacked an Army truck in Poonch district last month.
SRINAGAR: A day after five army personnel, mostly para commandos, were killed in an ongoing combat operation in the Kandi forest of Rajouri, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took stock of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir's border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.
