Votes are being counted for the recently concluded by-elections in Bengal's Asansol Lok Sabha seat and assembly seats in Bengal's Ballygunge, Khairagarh in Chhattisgarh, Bochahan in Bihar and Kolhapur North in Maharashtra
A triangular contest is on the cards in the Khairagarh bypoll, which is being dubbed as a semi-final ahead of the next year's assembly poll in Chhattisgarh.
Alternative to large mass gatherings, CM Baghel focused on small public meetings where he provocatively targeted ex-CM Raman Singh and Prime Minister Modi policies. He directly attacked BJP leaders, their policies and termed them anti-people, anti-Chhattisgarhiya.
A win for the ruling Congress will be endorsement of CM Bhupesh Baghel’s leadership; victory for the BJP will be a psychological boost in the run-up to assembly polls next year
Moreover, bypolls for the Khairagarh assembly constituency will be held on April 12, 2022, the last date for the filing nomination was fixed as March 24 and the counting of votes will be done on April 16.
