Dexter Revival Trailer: Meet Jim Lindsay, Who Definitely Isn't a Serial Killer – /Film

Showtime has released the first Dexter revival trailer, introducing us to Dexter's new secret identity in a small town. Thankfully it's not a lumberback.

New Dexter teaser gives us another glimpse of Michael C. Hall

Bound, we can only assume, by some arcane code of paternal restraint, the
Dexter revival has been playing its new status quo both quiet and coy. We’ve gotten a few little teasers, and a confirmation that Michael C. Hall will still be murdering people in the new Showtime show, which will not, tragically, be a low-key drama about the perils and pitfalls of Pacific Northwest logging operations. Now, we’ve gotten another one of these little dribs and drabs: Our first look at Dexter Morgan, circa 2021—or, should we say, Regular Human Man “Jim Lindsay.”

The Michigan UFO craze of 1966

The Michigan UFO craze of 1966
‘They did see something. I’ll believe this to the day I die.’
Ann Arbor News, courtesy of the Ann Arbor District Library archive
In 1966, a string of seemingly odd occurrences in Washtenaw County drew the attention of the entire country.
The events centered on a sudden wave of UFO sightings, with reports by police and citizens in March 1966.
It began on March 14, 1966, when Washtenaw County officers spotted lights in the sky, moving at high speeds over Lima Township.
The same lights were spotted by officers in Ohio, just across the Michigan border, and by observers at Selfridge Air Force Base.

Showtime Drops New 'Dexter' Trailer Hinting at a Killer Season

Dexter, hinting at the serial killer’s return to his nature.
The show left off in 2013 with murderer Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall, exiled in the woods as a lumberjack. Showtime released a teaser for the new 10-part series last week, with a voiceover from Dexter, saying: “There really is nothing like getting back to nature…my nature.”
In a new 30-second trailer released on Thursday, we find out more about what’s in store for the vigilante murderer.
The teaser opens up with a fire burning in the snowy woods and zooms out to reveal Dexter inside his cabin. In the reflection of the glass window, we can see a person struggling while being taped down to a table — Dexter’s signature move when killing his victims. Dexter, looking at his victim through the glass, initially looks distraught, but then turns to face the camera and offers a cheeky grin.

Lumberjack Dexter still wants to kill people in new Dexter tease

Photo: Rick Kern (Getty Images)
We’ll be honest: We don’t see much point in returning to the story of Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan if he
isn’t still pretty into killin’ people. As fascinating as a sober series about the logging industry in the Pacific Northwest—the logical endgame of
Dexter’s much maligned 2013 finale—might prove, people are a lot more likely to watch the
Dexter revival if they get to see Hall get back to what he does best, i.e., monologuing eternally while standing near bloody plastic.
That’s the gist of the (extremely brief) tease Showtime dropped onto Twitter this morning for the show. Given that it’s a 10 second clip, there’s really not much time for more than “Axe, quip, out,” but it certainly communicates the whole

Family remembers Dexter Fergusson, 7-year-old boy shot and killed, as community calls for end to gun violence

Family and friends of 7-year-old Dexter Fergusson, a boy shot and killed in his bed on Wednesday, gathered in Lake Park to remember him and call for change.Fergusson was killed after someone shot at his home. He was sleeping in his own bed when the shooting happened early Wednesday morning. No arrests have been made.On Sunday, family, friends and community members gathered at Kelsey Park to remember Dexter."Dexter, if you can hear Mommy, baby, just know that I’m sorry. 'Dexter, I love you. I love you so much. I am so heartbroken, baby,'" Dexter's mother Addiscia Ball said during the vigil. “I miss him so much."“I want to thank everybody who came out today to support me and my family," said Dexter Fergusson, Sr., Dexter's father. “I want to thank everybody for uplifting us at our time of need."The life they took was precious. It was innocent and it was pure. They basically stripped him of life before he had the chance to get to know himself."It's hard knowing that I’m not going to be able to see him any more. That’s a hard pill to accept, that he’s not going to be around and I'm missing the things that he used to do to make me smile."I think the gun violence needs to stop, especially when it has something to do with innocent children, innocent blood, children who had nothing to do with anything that was going on and it needs to stop because my baby is gone because of this."Community members called for an end to gun violence during the vigil as well."What we need for everybody to do is if you see something, say something. This has to stop in our community. We can’t keep having these types of vigils. We want to be able to have our community where we’re safe but the only way we’re going to do that is by pulling together as a community so any information that we know can help any family, let’s do that,” said Artie Williams, the vice president of the Mothers Against Murderers Association. "Peanut was such a loving kid. I’ve heard such amazing stories about him already and he’s touched so many families already, so many lives, so to the mother and father and the entire family we want to give you our prayers and our deepest condolences."Dexter's family members also urged anyone with information about the deadly shooting to tell law enforcement. The Riviera Beach Police Department can be reached at 561-845-4123.

ANN ARBOR – The Washtenaw Reads program is an initiative by local public libraries to encourage reading and civic dialogue.
Launched by the University of Michigan Life Sciences, Values and Society Program in 2003, the project aims to promote a shared experience and community discussion across a variety of topics.

This year’s Washtenaw Read is “All American Boys” by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely. A timely choice in the wake of George Floyd’s killing, the book centers around an event in which teenager Rashad is profiled by a white cop, Paul Galluzzo, who begins to brutally punch the boy after mistaking him for a shoplifter. As the violence unfolds, Rashad’s friend Quinn Collins -- who was raised by the cop after his own father was killed in Afghanistan -- looks on in disbelief.
