The government opened up the commercial coal mining for private entities in 2020. So far, six tranches of auctions have been concluded successfully and 87 coal mines have been auctioned.
India has chosen a path of climate justice and aims to pursue a balanced growth model based on the principles of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities, Union coal secretary Amrit Lal Meena said.
