In the last six months to about a year, Taapsee Pannu has gone from playing one quirky character after another. Do Baraah, Haseen Dilruba, Rashmi Rocket and Shaabash Mithu are some of the films that she has in her kitty of which only the latter is on floors. The rest have all been packed up. In the last few months, since the lockdown began to ease out, the actress wrapped up a string of projects in quick succession, with her mandatory week-long breaks between projects.
Talking about how she switches from the qualities and the journey of one character to another at a fast pace, Taapsee says, “Maybe I am picking up characters that are a bit like me. They do have a few things in common with me. That is what connects me to them and makes me pick them up in the first place. Yes, it did fatigue me to go from one crazy character into another so quickly. The stress point is that I have to go through the projects and my roles in great detail before I start but that also sometimes messes up with my head. Most films and characters are intense, which is the reason I complete a film and definitely take a break, disconnect from it and then start on a new set. I only dive into things that I feel completely excited to jump into, and that gives me something new to explore. I have to be like a child with a new toy. Main bore ho jaati if I was doing the same thing repeatedly. I mean, I should thank god that people come to me when they have something challenging on their hands. I also never thought I would do so many different films when I started off. When I look back, I feel if this didn’t happen, maybe I would have left out of boredom. When people show that confidence in my abilities to deliver, it gives me a rush.”
