Dr. Seuss banned? Elgin library will not remove Dr. Seuss books that will no longer be published

Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced it would quit publishing six books because of racial images deemed "hurtful."
The books have become very valuable, so the library will keep them at their information desk and allow people to look at them inside the library to keep the books from being stolen.
"Some of these are over $2,000," said Denise Raleigh, division chief public relations and development for the Elgin library.
"You know, it's well worth our time to keep those and to make sure that those connections and those discussions can, you know, can keep occurring," Raleigh said.
The Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin has four Dr. Seuss books that are no longer being published. The titles are, "If I Ran the Zoo," "And to Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street," "On Beyond Zebra!" and "The Cat's Quizzer."

Six Dr. Seuss Books Deemed 'Hurtful and Wrong' Discontinued

Today, March 2 is Dr. Seuss's birthday, but the party will be a few books light, because
Dr. Seuss Enterprises just announced they're taking six books out of publication because they feel the books portray people, in their own words, in
"hurtful and wrong ways."
Dr. Seuss Enterprises tells CNN that after reviewing all of the titles in their catalog and consulting with multiple educators, the decision was made to stop production on six of the company's Dr. Seuss titles.

If
Dr. Seuss Enterprises feels these six books are hurtful and that these books don't represent the core values of what the company is about, then hey...clearly they have every right to kick these titles to the curb. I mean, it's their company.
