The police arrested three suspected criminals who specialised in extorting residents under the pretext of being members of the ESN.

The Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command has stated that its operatives smashed two deadly criminal syndicates extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public via deadly threats in Ozubulu in Orumba Ekwusigo Local Government Area and Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State. The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Awka, the state capital said that in Umunze, two suspects were arrested after a painstaking investigation.

  The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has warned people of the state to desist from describing Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of the state as a "No-Go-Area" and the headquarters of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
