The Winneba High Court has dismissed a suit challenging the re-election of the assembly member for Donkonyianmu/Obrawogum Electoral Area, Mr Nathaniel Akyeampong, in the district level elections in December 2019.
According to the court, presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh, the first respondent, the Electoral Commission (EC) conducted the district assembly election in accordance with the law governing its operations.
It also held that the decision the EC took in the course of the election and the declaration of the results did not occasion any error patent on the face of the record.

The Winneba High Court has dismissed a suit challenging the re-election of the assembly member for Donkonyianmu/Obrawogum Electoral Area, Mr Nathaniel Akyeampong, in the district level elections in December 2019.
According to the court, presided over by Justice Aboagye Tandoh, the first respondent, the Electoral Commission (EC) conducted the district assembly election in accordance with the law governing its operations.
It also held that the decision the EC took in the course of the election and the declaration of the results did not occasion any error patent on the face of the record.
The court also held that neither was there any breach of natural justice to warrant the court’s intervention by way of certiorari to quash the election so declared or disturb same, adding “it is further ordered that the application is devoid of merit and same dismissed”.

GES Assures Parents Of Children Safety In School


 
Mrs. Mabel Judith Micah, Effutu Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), has assured parents that the necessary measures are in place to ensure the safety of children and staff at school.
She cited disinfection of private and government schools and series of meetings with the Education Oversight Committees and Teachers in the Municipality to encourage them to support students to observe the protective protocols as some of the measures in place to check the pandemic.
“We have also received our share of the Personal Protective Equipment from the government which include, hand sanitizers, nose masks, liquid soap and veronica buckets to be distributed to the schools,” she said.

Afenyo Markin Builds, Hands Over 14th Library To New Winneba Community


 
The Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin has commissioned a multipurpose library for the people of New Winneba in the Effutu municipality.
 
The MP has within the years built thirteen (13) new Libraries, at different communities in the constituency, to support reading.
 
 
The library is well stocked with upgraded books to succour students within the community and its environs.
 
According to the lawmaker, his motive for building Libraries is to inspire reading, especially among school children in the constituency.
 
The Library Board member, Miss Gifty Sey during the commission said: “We’ve also introduced an online learning management system to help schools within the communities.”
