A 45-year-old woman was trampled to death when a herd of wild elephants damaged three houses in search for foodat a village in Madhya Pradesh's Dindori district, an official said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Saturday night in Belgaon village under Manendragarh forest range when a wild tusker entered the under-construction house of Gulab Singh Gond and trampled him and his 6-year-old daughter Shanu to death.
The incident unravelled when the herd of elephants came from the forest area to the human-inhabited in search of food on May 5.
Villagers are scared to venture out following encounters with tuskers that ended in deaths and grief.
