After 19 years and 25 seasons of hosting
The Bachelor and all of its spinoffs, Chris Harrison made his exit from the franchise following the backlash from his interview with Rachel Lindsay. Though at first it seemed rather temporary, replacements are being brought in amidst the growing debate about whether Harrison should be completely “cancelled” for his mistakes. It has divided fans of Bachelor Nation, but one of the franchise’s alums has thrown his support behind the former host.
Like many contestants of Bachelor Nation, Eric Bigger has competed multiple times over the years for the chance at love. He hasn’t found it yet but knows Bachelor Nation better than most after playing on

The popular show the Bachelor/Bachelorette is an insight to where we are today in pop culture. I am addressing yet another show because, as a Christian, it reveals just how much current culture has replaced the faith many contestants proclaim to adhere to.
This 2021 season’s Bachelor, Matt James, was not picked—as typically done—from the pool of men dumped on the previous show. Instead, seemingly in response to the aftermath of George Floyd’s death last year the TV team hurried up and found their first black bachelor. They selected Matt James who has a black father and a white mother, and no previous affiliation with the Bachelor franchise.

Matt, a 29-year-old real estate broker, and Rachael, a 24-year-old graphic designer, met on season 25 of
The Bachelor in 2020. At his Final Rose Ceremony, Matt gave Rachael his final rose, but told her that he couldn’t propose to her but would like to continue dating. At the “After the Final Rose” special, which was held four months after Matt’s

Rachael came under fire in February 2021 after photos resurfaced of her attending a plantation-themed Old South Antebellum party at Georgia College in 2018. Around that time, a TikTok user also accused Rachael of bullying her and other classmates in high school for dating Black men. (Read more about Rachael’s racism scandal here.)

Chris Harrison’s exit as host, after nearly 20 years in the role, sent shockwaves through Bachelor Nation. Now, the contestant with the most ever appearances on Bachelor Nation is advocating that Harrison should not be fired from the franchise.
Chris Bukowski competed on almost every iteration of Bachelor Nation multiple times:

During their discussion, Gorman will offer insight into her poetic process and pull the curtain back on the making of her inaugural poem — a hard-copy edition of which will be available to purchase starting Tuesday. The Los Angeles writer and activist made history in January as the youngest poet ever to perform at a presidential inauguration.
According to Apple, Gorman will also introduce viewers to her mother, as well as “other important women in her life who have encouraged her pursuit of poetry,” and “share her hopes for the future, both personally and for the nation.” (The 23-year-old author, who recently signed with modeling and talent agency IMG, has stated multiple times that she plans to run for president as soon as she’s eligible in 2036.)

Harrison was criticized last month for defending a contestant after she was seen in racially-insensitive pictures attending a plantation-themed ball in 2018. Harrison later apologized but it was announced he would be stepping away from the show for an undetermined period.
It's not clear whether he will be back. Former bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will host the upcoming season of "The Bachelorette."
Ratings for the most recent season of "The Bachelor," where Matt James was the franchise's first Black bachelor, have been down but ticked up in its last few episodes.
James had selected contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who had appeared in the plantation-themed pictures. During the "After the Final Rose" special, he revealed that he had broken up with her after the controversy came to light.

NEW YORK (AP) — ABC “The Bachelor” ended a season that had as much drama off the set as on with its most-watched episode of the year and final appearance of host Chris Harrison — at least for a while.

Ratings for the most recent season of “The Bachelor,” where Matt James was the franchise's first Black bachelor, have been down but ticked up in its last few episodes.
James had selected contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who had appeared in the plantation-themed pictures. During the “After the Final Rose” special, he revealed that he had broken up with her after the controversy came to light.
It's tough to judge whether Harrison's absence had any impact on the “After the Final Rose” ratings, because ABC hadn't done one of those specials since 2018.
