A memorial service was held at Sacred Heart College in Johannesburg.
She died from COVID-19-related complications, last week and was laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery in accordance with Islamic traditions just hours after her death was announced.

Reporter Lindsay Dentlinger faced backlash on social media after footage was circulated of her asking black politicians to wear masks during interviews while white politicians were interviewed mask-less.

The SA National Editors' Forum (Sanef) on Sunday condemned the death and rape threats made against senior eNCA reporter Lindsay Dentlinger.  
The forum said the abuse, which has mostly been on online platforms, was uncalled for.
“The abuse of journalists, particularly women journalists, is rife on social media platforms.
“But we have seen the same kind of abuse at political events, rallies and protests marches where women journalists have been pushed, sexually harassed and subjected to verbal abuse,” Sanef said in a statement.

JOHANNESBURG - Members of the media fraternity has reflected on the legacy that Karima Brown has left behind with some saying that she opened doors for young, up-and-coming journalists.
Brown was laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg on Thursday in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family.
She passed away from COVID-19-related complications.

Brown, who was most recently the host of 'The Fix on television news channel eNCA,' held a number of senior positions in the media throughout her career.  
eNCA news anchor Dan Moyane said it is a sad day when someone of the calibre of Brown is no more.  
"I recall working with Karima Brown in the mid 90's in fact she was my producer when I worked at the SABC's National English Station SAFM. 
"It is indeed a sad morning, it is a day when you lose somebody of the calibre of Karima Brown," said Moyane.

The family of the late media personality Karima Brown have expressed their pride in all she achieved in her career.
“We are enormously proud of the fierce determination she had shown, since her early years, to get involved in bringing about a more just, inclusive, and anti-racist SA. This determination also shaped her fearless approach to journalism. She was driven by a conviction that journalism must be in service of justice,” read a statement from the family.
Brown died on Thursday morning after several weeks of hospitalisation, battling Covid-19 complications.
Her family said she had lived her life to the fullest.

Journalist, editor and broadcaster Karima Brown has died from Covid-19.
In a statement, her family said Brown was not just a “prolific and well-known journalist and commentator, with deep footprints in print and broadcast media, but also and more importantly a well-loved friend, mentor, mother, colleague, daughter and confidante to countless people throughout a life lived fully and with deep commitment to her most cherished values and principles”.
They said they were “enormously proud” of her fierce determination to bring about a more just, inclusive and anti-racist South Africa. “This determination also shaped her fearless approach to journalism. She was driven by a conviction that journalism must be in service of justice”.

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has given eNCA management seven days to respond to their grievances around transformation.
eNCA signed a memorandum handed over by the party listing their demands which include transformation and rehabilitation of racist journalists.
A group of ANC members led by the party's Jessie Duarte and Nomvula Mokonyane staged a picket on Tuesday outside the eNCA offices in Hyde Park.
Reporter Lindsay Dentlinger has now apologised for her behaviour outside Parliament last week asking only black MPs to keep their masks on during interviews.
Her employer insists her failure to do the same with their white counterparts was not racist.

Lindsay Dentlinger has been caught in the middle of a furore, following her handling of live interviews.
In an interview from SONA 2021 the  senior journalist asks black politicians, including the United Democratic Movement’s (UDM) Nqabayomzi Kwankwa and African National Congress' (ANC) MP Bongani Bondo, to put on their masks, while their white counterparts were not given the same treatment. Dentlinger spoke to the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) John Steenhuisen and FF Plus leader Pieter Groenewald without masks.
This saw her on the receiving end of racism allegations.

Muso Prince Kaybee has called out ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba for his stance in a debate over eNCA’s alleged “racist mask policy”.
The broadcaster came under fire last week for asking black politicians to keep their face masks on while white politicians were allowed to go maskless during interviews. eNCA claimed the incident was not racially motivated and said some footage was “maliciously misleading.”
A Twitter user asked the former mayor of Johannesburg for his thoughts on the backlash.

Complaints pile up on eNCA mask race row

The Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) says it has received 44 complaints against eNCA after journalist Lindsay Dentlinger sparked a mask race row while conducting interviews in parliament. BCCSA registrar Shouneez Martin confirmed to Sowetan that the oversight body has officially registered nine of those complaints as they had all the required information.
