A major tragedy has been averted before Independence Day, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said on Friday after a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam.
