Aborted launch last saturday. joining us, tom costello and jose hernandez, former astronaut for nasa, both dear friends i admire. tom, take us through what is happening right now. let me just tell you, we re watching very closely the upper corner of your screen there, that gives you the elapsed time so far in the mission and the next critical milestone that we re going to be watching very closely is 12 minutes into flight and you re going to hear capcom call out meco, main engine cutoff. once we have meco, main engine cutoff, it is assumed at that point that the crew is safely into orbit, so we ll be watching that as they accelerate to 17,000 miles per hour. 1.5 million pounds of thrust coming off the launchpad this morning and it all did go beautifully as you heard as they burned on the core engine there ....
The point, 15 seconds away from meco, that main engine cutoff point that signifies they re safely in orbit, but it appears that they are approaching that very, very well. and here we go, we ll listen closely to mission control. nominal meco starliner. nominal is the term that it went well. main engine cutoff. we got good energy, meaning good velocity for continuing to orbit and good plane meaning starliner s trajectory is aligned with the international space station for rendezvous tomorrow. and with that, butch and sunny will return to orbit and they re both individually ....
