Grief groups for LGBTQ people are few and far between. But they are desperately needed.

Services for older adult LGBTQ people are few and far between. From support groups to grief groups, it’s not always easy to find a safe space where one can be vulnerable and talk about a profound loss. While these groups incredibly valuable when it comes to learning to live with loss, more are needed. Lana Jo Rich lost her wife, Rada, to cancer roughly eight months ago. "I

Arizona transgender veterans discuss abuses, how political changes can alter lives

“Some of them were officers, they’ve (had a) 10-, 15-, 20-year career. Are they going to get kicked out? Are they going to get court-martialed? Like, what’s going to happen?”
As a transgender man, Montana still is denied benefits and medical access that veterans rely on for treatment of injuries and mental health issues. Before he transitioned, he served in the Marine Corps for more than a decade until he was outed.
It happened during Montana’s second tour in Iraq when he was severely injured in an explosion, causing traumatic brain injury, broken bones and other wounds. Montana was a lesbian at the time and had kept it secret, telling his superiors that his partner was his sister. After she called the hospital to ask about his injuries, Montana’s sergeant spoke to his mother, who told them Montana had no sister and the caller was his lover, and Montana’s secret was out.

PHOENIX – The status of transgender members of the armed forces has shifted dramatically in the past decade as President Joe Biden and his two predecessors issued conflicting orders defining and redefining the eligibility of transgender Americans to serve their country.
Five days after taking office in January, Biden signed an order to reinstate transgender servicemembers, reversing the Donald Trump’s 2019 order, which effectively banned transgender individuals from service. It was just one of a number of Biden reversals of Trump-era rules, the most recent coming Monday when the Department of Health and Human Services said it would again include gender identity as protected by anti-discrimination laws when it comes to delivery of health care.

In our family travel special on March 30, we asked you to share your favourite holiday memories for the chance to win a Bay of Islands private cruise. Here are some of our favourite entries.
A road trip to explore the far North. We were living in Waiouru at the time and decided that we should spend more time exploring our own backyard. Over a 10 day period, we explored Matakana, Mangawhai, Waipū, Ruakākā, Russell, Paihia, Kaeo, Kaitāia, Ahipara, Dargaville and Maungatūroto. We did all the touristy things including local tours by local guides. I think these were the best part of the trip. Locals, in all their Kiwiana glory, proudly marketing their area. Whilst we stayed in backpacker-type accom, this afforded us the opportunity to spend our money on enjoying the local fare ... and it was always fresh, always tasty and always served with love.

Business Week in Review: $265M mixed-use development proposed in Springboro

Business Week in Review: $265M mixed-use development proposed in Springboro
Business Staff
A working farm that has been in the hands of one of Springboro’s original founding families for five generations is envisioned to become a $265 million mixed-use development in the middle of the city.
Two developers want to build a development on the Easton Farm, a 105-acre parcel of land on the west side of North Main Street/Ohio 741, that would include a commercial district, parks, walking/biking paths, multi-family housing, an independent living center, townhomes and single-family homes.
Dillin LLC, a Springboro-based development company, and Borror, a Columbus-based developer specializing in multi-family properties, have submitted an application for the rezoning of the land that sits between Anna Drive and Tamarack Trail.
