China on Wednesday condemned the suicide attack in Pakistan’s Karachi University that claimed the lives of three of its citizens, and demanded a thorough investigation. “China will continue to urge Pakistan to deal with the aftermath and the treatment of the injured and resolutely fight against terrorist organisations involved in the case," deputy director of the Chinese foreign ministry Zhao Lijian tweeted on Wednesday.
Two Pakistan-based terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit were killed during an encounter in Srinagar's Bishembar Nagar area. During a joint operation of Jammu Kashmir Police and the paramilitary force, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the terrorists, involved in the attack on CRPF personnel at Maisuma area of Srinagar on April 4 were, neutralised. The security forces said that they were acting on a specific input about the presence of terrorists in Bhishembar Nagar area, following which a cordon and search operation were launched by the Srinagar Police.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police chief on Thursday said that the number of terrorists in the valley has come down, but added that the threat still remains. He also said that till the time there are arms and ammunition present in the valley, peace cannot prevail upon Kashmir. He appealed to the youth of the valley to shun the path of violence.
The 72-hour operation against the Baloch militants ended on Saturday, the Pakistan Army said, adding that 20 insurgents have been shot down. The military's media affairs wing, ISPR, in a statement said that nine security personnel lost their lives during the operation. On February 2 late-evening, Pakistan’s southwestern Balochistan province was attacked wherein the militants attacked two military bases in Panjgur and Naushki areas.
