Cllr Michael Cahill says public toilets at Kerry County Council amenities should be open all year, not just during the summer months. At the recent Kenmare Municipal District meeting, Cllr Cahill said essential services should be provided all year round, as people don’t just get the call of nature during the summer. A TD has placed facts related to the Kerry Babies case on the Dáil record. Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly was speaking on the appointment of new commissioners to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission, when he spoke about the Kerry Babies tribunal. Last month, Joanne Hayes and her family received a new state apology; Ms Hayes was wrongly accused of murdering an infant over 35 years ago. As part of the High Court settlement, the family also secured declarations that all findings or wrongdoing made against them by the tribunal into the case were unfounded and incorrect.

CEO Anthony O’Gara says a small-scale festival, held later in autumn, is another option which organisers are looking at.   For the first time in its 60-year history, the Rose of Tralee did not go ahead in 2020 because of the global pandemic.
