Angela Merkel crisis: Two MPs resign after 'personally profiting from face mask deals'

Tweeting the news on Monday morning, Euronews Political Editor Darren McCaffrey said: "Two of Angela Merkel’s MPs are resigning, following disclosures that they had personally profited from government deals to procure #coronavirus face masks
"All risks damaging CDU ahead of two important regional elections next Sunday in two western states, ahead of GE in September."
Nikolas Loebel, a member of Germany's lower house said on Sunday he would resign as member of Merkel's parliamentary group with immediate effect and no longer seek a new term in the lower house in federal elections scheduled for September.
