India's overall auto sales in September increased by 20% compared to the previous year. The two-wheeler and three-wheeler categories also saw new records. The 2W category had a 22% increase, while the 3W category had a 49% increase. However, tractor sales decreased by 10%. The sales growth is attributed to the upcoming festive season, the introduction of new models, attractive promotional offers, and increased demand in rural areas. This positive trend is seen as a potential turnaround in the rural market.

India Auto Sales: "September's Auto Retail celebrated a 20% YoY leap, continuing the momentum from the previous month while marking a 3.5% MoM increase, seamlessly transitioning into the festive period's sweet spot set to unfold over the next 42 days," said FADA President Manish Raj Singhania.

Auto sales in September: The federation stated that it has shifted its stance from ‘cautiously optimistic’ to ‘optimistic’ and is anticipating a vibrant festive season for auto sales due to the approaching 42-days festive period.    

With all the categories in green, FADA stated that the 2022 festive season turned out to be the best in the last four years, stated FADA.
