For his second "Executive Decision" segment of
Mad Money Thursday night, Jim Cramer spoke with Kevin Mandia, CEO of cybersecurity firm FireEye (FEYE) .
Mandia said the attacks just keep on coming. Right now, FireEye is still working on cleaning up the remnants of the massive Solar Winds (SWI)  cyberattack. This week we learned of four new zero-day vulnerabilities on Microsoft (MSFT) Exchange email servers. Zero-day exploits are those which currently have no patches or fixes available.

CyberArk and Fortinet Stocks Rally as Analysts See Growth in Security Spending

Analysts say cyber-security stocks’ gains can continue.

Security stocks had a huge run in 2020, with an extra boost from the end-of-the-year revelation of the “Sunburst” hack attack on software company SolarWinds that left almost 18,000 of their customers vulnerable.
Analysts see further gains ahead in 2021, as the attack drives some companies to prioritize spending on detection, preventing and addressing cyber-security issues. Wall Street has been ratcheting up its estimates, stock ratings and price targets in response. On Tuesday, two more analysts joined the bullish chorus.
D.A. Davidson analyst Andrew Nowinski on Tuesday upgraded both
Fortinet
(FTNT) to Buy from Neutral. He raised his share-price targets to $180 from $100 on CyberArk, and to $170 from $130 on Fortinet.

Wall Street Seeks the Upside in an Historic Hack

The attack that may have exposed 18,000 SolarWinds’ customers also brought a lot of attention to the importance of cybersecurity. That had Wall Street analysts revising their views of the industry and the stocks.

SolarWinds has said close to 18,000 organizations could have been affected by malware inserted within updates to its Orion software.
Bronte Wittpenn/Bloomberg
SolarWindsissued a security advisory providing detailed information on steps customers should take in response to the continuing attack on the company’s widely used Orion IT management system—and confirming that two separate pieces of malware are now corrupting some installations.
The company has previously said that close to 18,000 organizations could have been vulnerable as a result of malware inserted into Orion software updates earlier this year.
As SolarWinds explains in the advisory, issued Thursday, the original cyberattack inserts a vulnerability—now known as Sunburst—into the Orion software. That attack, the company said, “could potentially allow an attacker to compromise the server on which the Orion products run.”
