The Twin Cedars Girls Track and Field Squad has several athletes who could make a challenge for the state meet this season, and in the 4×800 team’s case is getting close to a school record. Coach Cam Parker tells KNIA/KRLS Sports with a strong performance and each girl shaving off a little bit of time that school record could be broken. The Twin Cedars Girls Track and Field Squad will have two meets this week. Tuesday, the Sabers head to PCM being joined by fellow Marion County school Knoxville. The Sabers placed 17th at the Lady Plainesmen Relays last week and hope to have a better showing against bigger schools on Tuesday. Thursday, the Sabers head to the EBF Girls Invitational in Eddyville where they will see PCM for the second straight meet along with Pleasantville.

The Knoxville Girls Track and Field Squad is around three weeks from starting its season. That was something the Panthers never got to do last year, as the COVID-19 pandemic shut down spring sports and cancelled the season. First year Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the girls are ready to get back on the track after losing the season last year. Splavec: “A lot of them are feeling that way, and they were upset and getting ready for last year, and all the way to that state qualifier, and a lot of the kids are just ready to show what they can do on the track.”
