Flat Lake Fire reaches Highway 97, crews working to build guard in the area SHARE ON: (Photo supplied by BC Wildfire Service) The Flat Lake Wildfire, southwest of 100 Mile House, has reportedly advanced to Highway 97 at 82 Mile and Green Lake Road. A BC Wildfire Service crew loads gear into a truck before heading out just before 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday to battle Kamloops-area wildfires. The Kamloops-Thompson school district and BC Wildfire Service worked out the logistics for the wildfire camp to occupy the land where Parkcrest elementary once stood, until it was razed by a fire in September 2019. Thompson Nicola Regional District issues Evacuation Order near Flat Lake Fire SHARE ON: An Evacuation Order has been issued by the Thompson Nicola Regional District for properties near the Flat Lake Fire. Because of the potential danger to life, the TNRD has issued the Evacuation Order for properties in the vicinity of Gustafsen Lake, and Nielson Lake, and any other properties listed on their map.  

Flat Lake Fire grows to the southeast SHARE ON: BC Wildfire Service Map - July 18 The BC Wildfire Service says there was some growth in the Flat Lake fire to the southeast, and smoke was visible from Highway 97 and surrounding communities. As of Sunday morning, the fire is still listed as an estimated 14-thousand hectares in size. They say crews are working with heavy equipment today to establish and gain access in the area to the southeast of the fire, and to support line in and around identified values. There are 12 helicopters working on this fire, as well as 35 firefighters.
